W-2 WITHHOLDING

Worked only a few days in NY before move to CT employer.  W-2 shows the same amount of wages for both states and a small amount of withholding in NY.  Is this a problem?

W-2 WITHHOLDING

Can you give more detail?

What does "move to CT employer" mean?  Did you change jobs but not move?  Did you move your domicile (your main, primary home) from NY to CT?  Did you move to a new home in CT but continue to work for your NY employer? Did you work remotely?  Did you work for a new employer located in CT?

**Answers are correct to the best of my ability but do not constitute tax or legal advice.

W-2 WITHHOLDING

It should not be a problem. New York has an unusual rule that the state wages in box 16 of the W-2 must be the same as the federal wages in box 1. Any adjustment that's needed is made on the tax return. The New York interview in TurboTax will ask you how much of the wages were earned in New York.
