Virginia offers a deduction for sales tax paid on energy-savings appliances. Does the purchase have to be made during the tax year (2018) to qualify? I have one from 2017

If you are preparing your 2018 tax return then the purchase would have had to be made in 2018 to qualify for a deduction or a credit.
