two state tax

You may only have to file for Ohio personal income tax return. As you said, Tennessee does not have an income tax. The state only taxes interest and dividends. The amounts have to be over $1,250 ($2,500 if married, filing jointly) during the tax year.

File a part-year Ohio tax return and report only the income you earned while you lived in the Buckeye State.

If TurboTax prompts you to file a TN return and you don't need to, select Skip.

two state tax

I assumed since there was no place on my TN Tax reporting the business tax is done thru a service like TurboTax for Home & Business. After talking with TN Tax guy he loaded the tax reporting onto my TN account.

So I used my one free state to learn TURBOTAX for home & business does not have anything to do with State or Business in Tennessee.

I talked with a Turbotax rep and was informed all that could be done is a 20% coupon. That did work. So I paid $45 to file Ohio.

My thought  - if you are a large company like Turbotax  - why is Tennessee even listed as a state to file?

two state tax

Tennessee has no income tax on salaries and wages. However, for the 2020 tax year, the state levied a 1% flat-rate tax on all income earned from interest and dividends. Beginning with the 2021 tax year, that tax will be repealed.  There is a 2020 state return that would have to be filed if you had income earned on 1099-DIV and/or 1099-INT for 2020.

TurboTax Home and Business or Self-Employed is what is needed to report federal income on a sole-proprietorship or single member LLC.  Your Ohio tax return covers any income earned in Ohio  during the time that you lived in Ohio.
