Yes, you can still edit Schedule M, line 1a. If you are in Forms Mode on RI Sch M, and have previously clicked on the box but not entered your details, you may have inadvertently created a supplemental schedule. Click on the + to the left of the box to go to that schedule. At the top of this window, there are commands, such as delete a line, if you do not want to provide a description or do not need more than one line.
Schedule M line 1a, per page 8 of the 2019 Rhode Island Individual Income Tax Instructions
I had clicked on the box to edit it because the interest from U.S savings bonds was filled in already from my bank statement but there were additional amounts of interest from government securities that I tried to add and it wouldn't let me edit the amount in the box or delete it so I could correct it. I just tried to follow your directions but there is no + to the left of the box to click. I am using an iMcc if that make any difference.
Yes, you may wish to do this on a computer because other portable devices do not have the editing capability as the PC's have.
By iMac I mean an iMac Apple computer. It is running macOS 10.13.6 which I am told by Turbo Tax can be used this year for my taxes but that it will need to be updated before next year's Turbo Tax. I tried to edit the line again just now and it won't let me change or delete the entry.
I finally found a way to do it. In Forms mode go to "Edit" then choose "override". I had to do a lot of trying and think that the answer given me should have been clearer given what I paid for this program and the fact that it is a new problem that was not in last year's version.
