I think I found a legitimate bug for state filing.
My state return keeps getting rejected because box 15 Employer's Ohio ID number is not allowing 9 digit numbers. My return keeps getting rejected for W2_Import_(i forget the error) because of a W2 mismatch. Well, both me and my wife's w2 is not allowing the final digit of our Ohio Employer's ID number so its getting auto rejected by the state. The ADP import tool correctly shows in the software and then at the last step to e-file, I check the return paperwork and the 9th digit is missing with both of ours. Also the software wouldn't let me continue to state file until the error was corrected with Employer state ID being something like this 12-123456 1
It wants me to first get rid of the spaces and dashes, which is normal, however even after correcting, it still omits the 9th digit in the filing paperwork.
Ive already done the troubleshooting of re-importing from ADP, even making fake ID numbers to 10 digits and it cuts off at 8 every instance. Can this be addressed so I can e-file to the state.
Thanks

1099-R Entry Instructions for the Withholding Schedules
- 1099-R entry instructions for the withholding schedules
- Ohio tax withheld (IT WH)
- Found in box 14 or box 12
- Payer's Ohio number (IT WH/SD WH)
- Found in box 15 or box 13
- If this shows a state other than OHIO or OH, do not include the amount
- Some forms may show a 9-digit Ohio ID number. Only the first 8 digits should be entered on the withholding schedule (emphasis mine)
- School district tax (SD WH)
- Found in box 17 or box 15
- School district distribution (SD WH)
- Found in box 19 or box 17
Note the line that I underlined. Apparently the state wants you to enter only the first 8 digits. Yes, this is for a 1099-R, but the same is likely true for the W-2.
Thanks for the information. It appears this a more widespread issue. There are now 3 separate posts from 3 different states having this state rejection from W2_Import_Hold.
I tried submitted my state return again today with no changes and it was accepted. I also checked last years return and there were only 8 digits. Must have been an issue on the back end that resolved.
