TT not allowing me to amend one state return without amending the other

Last year I retired from my former employer in CA. I was living in OR all year and late in the year I started a small business in OR. It is registered with the OR Sec of State.  I cannot amend my OR return to include my business without CA getting in there and demanding to know when I started business in CA, which I did not. TT didn't even tell me this was coming from the CA side, when I tried to file the amendment, TT just said oh we have these 50 questions to clear up, and it eventually became evident from the questions (see above) that this is from the CA return.

Is there a way to actually separate the state returns? Or do I need to amend my return offline?

Thanks for any enlightenment.

You can cancel your California amendment.

  1. Go to California.
  2. On “Let’s review your amended return,” select I’ll choose what I work on.
  3. On “Your 2022 California taxes are ready for us to check,” select Other Situations
  4. In Other Forms, choose Change a Previously Filed Tax Return (Amend)
  5. On Filing an Amended Return select NO

Alternatively, you can skip all those questions by going straight to Review, ignore all California errors, and file/print your other state only
