Taxes in CT and TX

I lived and worked in Connecticut until 10/18/2023 and after that in Texas (where there is no state tax) from 10/19/2023 to End of year. When I use TurboTax and enter all information, including what amount was part of Texas, Connecticut AGI still adds my amount from Texas and taxes me on that amount and not just the amount I earned in Connecticut. My mailing address and Residency address both are Texas. What am I doing wrong?

I did select the Form CT-1040NR/PY, however the amount does not change. In looking at the CT state form in detail, I noticed, that on lines 2 and line 4, It is looking for subtractions from Schedule 1 lines 40 and 52. However Turbo Tax Schedule 1 form only goes to line 26.  When will Turbo Tax fix this?

Review the Connecticut (CT) tax return.  You have the ability to allocate the proper amount of income that should be taxed to CT if your W-2 does not have the correct amount.  See the image below.

Hi DianeW777,

Thank you for the response, My W2's have the correct amount. I entered the information in the section as shown in the screenshot you provided. Still my CT AGI and the Federal AGI are showing the same amount.

If you are a Connecticut resident for more than 183 days in the year then Connecticut taxes you as a full year resident.  You didn't move until October the 18th so they are taxing all of your income for the year.

CT's 183-day rule applies only to taxpayers not domiciled in CT.

https://www.cga.ct.gov/2020/rpt/pdf/2020-R-0039.pdf

@MM00 was domiciled in CT until his relocation to Texas.  He did not spend 183 days of the tax year in CT after changing his domicile.  Therefore the 183-day does not apply in this case.

CT taxes non-residents only on CT-source income.  If the taxpayer had no CT-source income after becoming a TX resident, then none of his income as a TX resident would be subject to CT taxation.
