1099-R reflects state witholding of $1783. Made a withholdings change effective 1 December this year which reduced the withholding by $53/month to $100/month. Received a refund check from the state for $583 appears the change was made retroactive for the entire year? Which amount should I reflect in Turbo Tax I'm guessing the actual amount paid (refund included) and then deal with state auditors if they question the difference? dc

Yes, $1783 is the correct amount to report in Turbo Tax and you don't need to make any adjustments on your own. This amount does reflect the amount of $100 that was withheld in Dec. The computation of the tax withheld is ($153 X11) + $100= $1783. Does this make sense?

Why did they send you a refund check? It's probably for something else. Do you get retirement from the state? Ask the state why you got it.
