State and Local Taxes

I entered all my info into turbo tax.  When I reviewed the value in NYS Form IT 196 (Itemized Deductions) the value that was recorded on line 5 for state and local income tax was significantly

 higher than what I paid.  I checked all my entries and they were correct.  I need some help figuring out why this value is so high

This value comes from your form 1040, Schedule A, line 5.  This amount includes all state/local taxes you have entered (real estate, personal property, state/local income or sales taxes, and any other state/local tax you might have entered in the "Estimated and other taxes paid" topic.  This is limited to $10,000.
