Standard and itemized in Kentucky

Yes, you can itemize deductions on Kentucky state tax returns even if you used standard deduction in Federal tax returns. KY allows you to use different deduction method than federal.

In order to itemized your deductions for your KY return, you will need to enter the the allowed deductions into your Federal return.

The information about the deductions is then transferred from your Federal return to the KY return.
