Resident for tax purposes

Hi, I just received a note and a W-8 BEN from my bank which is asking me to confirm my non-resident alien status. However, I am a resident alien for tax purposes. Therefore, I am surprised by the mail that I received. Could you tell me what I said in my tax declaration earlier this year? Did I present myself as non-resident alien?

The bank has no way to know, what was on your tax return. Anyway, non resident aliens cannot use Turbotax, so if you used TT, you files as resident alien. They are probably asking for form W8BEN, because that is what you signed when you first came to the US on a visa? Just tell them, that you are a resident alien now and need to sign form W9 instead
