Yes. Residents are subject to Pennsylvania personal income tax on their entire incomes.
What would be the "Misc compensation code" for this on the PA return?
Where does it ask for this Misc compensation code? I have searched this out in the PA return and i can't find what it references.
It can be found in the Gross Compensation Worksheet. TurboTax identifies it as an error when reviewing the return if there is no Misc compensation code entered. None of the codes seem to apply to the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Rebate.
First, just to confirm, the alternative fuel tax rebate is taxable in Pennsylvania. See "Please note: All rebates issued as a part of this program are taxable income and will result in the ...."
Second, on the screen in the Pennsyvania interview in TurboTax with the heading "Miscellaneous Compensation", was this rebate one of the items listed? If so, please edit it.
On the next screen, for type of income, choose "Other nonemployee compensation", because that's what it is. On the screen after that, enter the description and you're done.
This should clear the Review. Let me know if it doesn't.
