sophia_fd-yahoo-,
While there is a federal form 1040-SR there is no CA 540-SR. It is just a CA 540 or a 540-2EZ or, for part year and nonresidents 540-NR.
I would need more information to understand what you have encountered though it sounds as if some W-2 was accidentally started and abandoned. If that is the case, go back to the Income area and click on the link to enter wages. If it shows a W-2 listed, go ahead and delete it.
Thank you for your reply.
It was a misprint.
I meant 540 and 1040 SR.
I did not have any W-2 entered in Turbo Tax.
I tried a few things to get around this problem and finally succeeded in filing my income tax return a few days ago.
It was accepted that same day by CA.
Is there a way to close this thread?
Could you explain how you fixed the issue please?
If you are getting a W-2 error and did not have any W-2's, in your Federal return, type 'W-2' in the Search area, then click on 'Jump to W-2'.
If you see a screen displaying a W-2 Summary, Delete the entry there. If the screen asks if you want to add a W-2, say No.
OR, you can Delete the W-2 from your return. Here's How to View and Delete Forms in TurboTax Online.
If you're using TurboTax Desktop, click on FORMS at the upper right, then click 'Open Form' and type in 'W-2.'
When the form opens, choose 'Delete Form' from the bottom center of the page.
If you wanted to enter a 1099-R to report Retirement Income, click this link for steps on How to Enter 1099-R or How to Enter Social Security Benefits (SSA-1099).
