Using TurboTax on Windows, from State Taxes, Virginia, it says I made estimated tax payments. It then says if I need to make changes, I need to go back to the Federal Return.
When I go back to the Federal, I can't find it. Under Deductions & Credits, the Estimates and Other Taxes Paid section, everything is set to No (nothing paid).
So where is the estimated state tax number from?

First, in the "Estimates and Other Taxes Paid" topic answer "Yes" and actually edit the "State Estimates" topic to be sure everything is zero and there are no entries in any boxes.
If that doesn't clear the payments then use the "Delete a form" function. In desktop versions use the "Forms Mode" and in online versions the steps below.
1. Select "Tax Tools" in the left hand menu
2. Select "Tools"
3. Select "Delete a Form"
4. Find the Tax Payments Worksheet.
5. "Delete"
6. "Confirm Deletion"
That will delete any direct entries on that worksheet but still keep items that were entered via other forms such as W2s (state taxes paid).
Thank you very much for taking the time to help.
The TurboTax instructions next to that that number with instructions to go to the Federal Return was completely misleading. As you mentioned, it was on the State side.
I found it under "Other Situations" where it was set under File Extensions.
