Go back to the Education section and 'Edit' your Student, at the 'Your Education Expenses Summary' page. Then 'Edit' your School at the 'Here's your Education Summary' page.
Continue until you come to a page 'Choosing a larger education credit' where you can enter the amount of $2023 that was not covered by scholarships (screenshot).
However, this may make earnings on your 520 distribution taxable.

I'm seeing the same thing. I just posted the issue on the PROSERIES Facebook group, and we will see what comes back. Here's what I posted, "
Why does Proseries default to $10,000. On line 17 of the DEPENDENT STUDENT INFO WORKSHEET? Line 17 is the USED FOR CREDIT OR DEDUCTION, if AOTC and a 1099-Q for an Education Savings Account (ESA) is in play in the return, when only $4000 is used for the AOTC?
If I don’t override the $10,000 to $4,000, then it taxes more of the 1099-Q."
As of March5, 2023, this bug still exists, which means that TT tax calculation is incorrect. Why has it not been fixed?
....and I'm still seeing this in my 2024 return!
