I just need to file state return......how do I get straight to state only

You can't use TurboTax to prepare and file a state return without preparing a Federal return.   The state return needs a lot of info from the Federal return.

You're not forced to file the Federal return you prepare, but you would have to print and mail the state return.  Some states require a copy of the Federal return (or certain forms/schedules from it) to be enclosed.

In a paid product, you'd still have to pay for the Federal return, even if not filed.
