Restarting State Step-by-Step

When I click "Edit" on the initial "Your State Returns" page (Montana), it goes to the place I left off on "Step-by-Step".  Is there away to step through from the beginning without losing previous entries, and without hitting "Back" a bunch of times?

Restarting State Step-by-Step

A slight revision to my question above:  I cannot even use "Back".  "Back" takes me to the initial "Your State Returns" page, and "Edit" takes me where I left off.  It seems that the "Step-by-Step" is stuck where I left off.

I just tested this and you should be able to click State Taxes at the very top and return to review your state information.

Having same issue as described above. can't get back into the state step by step. After starting state again, it goes directly from editing the state (MN) button to 'your Minnesota Bottom Line' summary.

(I have a state penalty which I'm trying to resolve with actual income and tax data)

I have the updates installed to MN from 3/04/26.

PS. It seems the summary Overpayment and Net don't reflect the actual refund. Penalty is subtracted twice.

It may be easiest just to remove the MN return and restart it.

If you are using the Online version of TurboTax:

  1. Click Your State Returns under State Taxes on the left side menu.
  2. Click the trash can icon by the Edit button for the State that needs deletion.
  3. Click Delete on the pop-up asking if you want to delete this return.
  4. Then you can click Add Another State to get restarted on that return.

If you are using the Desktop version of TurboTax:

  1. Click File in the upper left corner then Remove State Return.
  2. This will bring up a pop-up asking what state you want to remove.
  3. Click on the state in the menu and then click Remove.
  4. You can then go back to the State Taxes tab and pick out a state you want to work on.

This will get you to where you can edit your state again and get to the section to reduce your penalty.
