I am a RI resident working for a company based in NYC. Started there in Dec 2021 but working remote from RI. I do not go to NYC.
I am finding out about a NYC-1127 payment that I need to make and is 1/2 of the Gross earnings that I made with the company in NYC in Dec 2021. I had no withholding for NYC 1127 the whiole 2021 year. TT tells me I have a small refund on NY state tax bu owe the Disability non resident tax with a NY200v voucher
90% of my total income was made in RI up to December and 10% with the company in NY.
Is this correct? I am already taxed and had my tax withheld on my income in RI so it seems I am taxed in both state? That cannot be. What do I need to do?

TurboTax does not tell you that you have to file Form NYC-1127 or pay the NYC-1127 payment. It asks you if you have to file the NYC-1127. The first screen in the NYC-1127 section tells you that it applies "if you were an employee of the City of New York," and asks you if you have to file it. See the screen shot below. If you answer No, that's the end of the section. In order to be told to make the payment and get a voucher, you had to have answered Yes on that first screen.
Form NYC-1127 is for employees of the City of New York itself, the city government and its agencies. It does not apply to employees of private companies that are located in New York City. If you worked for a private company you do not have to make any NYC-1127 payment and you do not file Form NYC-1127.
That is sure is good news! but then why is turbo tax indicates me I need to pay this and printed a voucher? What did I do wrong? Is there a checkbox I need to turn off ?
