There is not a hard rule on this, but it is best to try to split the income as best you can according to where you were when you received it.  If the income was received monthly, try to allocate it based on how many months you were in each state.

 

If you received the income in one lump-sum, you can allocate it to the state where you resided at the time you received the payment.
