Live in WA state, work in OR

I’m wondering what software I need to purchase. I work in Oregon for a company, but live in Washington state. I also need to file for my free lance income. (Which I do do in WA state) Which software should I purchase?? This is my first time filing taxes on my own.

If you plan to use online TurboTax you will need Self-Employed since you say you have freelance income--you will need Self-Employed to prepare your federal return and you will need software for the state of Oregon where you work and earn income.  WA does not have a state income tax.

If you use desktop software (which you download or install from a CD to your own hard drive) then you can try Deluxe, since all of the desktop software versions have all of the forms and schedules needed --even for self-employment income.  if you purchase Deluxe from a retailer make sure you get a version that includes state software--Deluxe is sold both with and without state software by retailers.
