I need to file returns for 2 different states as well as federal. How do I get an extra state return?

To add a state in TurboTax Online, while logged in to your return:

• Click on State Taxes on the left hand side of your screen. 
•  Click on Your State Returns.  
• Click on the Add Another State button.

Do I have to pay extra for the 2nd state?  Also, I don't normally e-file or use the online version. I use the desktop version and normally snail-mail my returns.

Yes, you will have to pay extra for the second state.  There is an additional fee for each state in both Online and Desktop.  If you use the online version this year you can still print and mail your returns.
