What lines on the form 511-NR need to be filed out to report gambling winnings to OK?
You enter the gambling winnings on the federal side and they flow over to the 511-NR.
Complete the nonresident return first before your resident state. You'll receive a credit for taxes paid to OK on your resident state return.
I am having to fill out a paper form 511NR for 2018 but am not sure what lines to fill in except for the winnings on line 1.
Yes and put that same total in Line 6 and line 10. That is the amount of income you are responsible for reporting to Oklahoma.
Thank you Dave. So I don't have to put anything under the federal column and do not have to give them my AGI?
I would put that in there just for informational purposes. I don't think Oklahoma would need it because you are filing a non-resident return but state tax codes are unique in each state and it's best to be safe than sorry. Oklahoma's only interest should be to get their share of that nice jackpot.
Hi there, I see its been a few years since your OK tax issue occurred. I'm curious if you have an update on your experience?
Hi there, I saw your post regarding the OK tax commission sending past year notices for gambling win/loss to Texas resident. Do you have an update on your situation?
Regardless of whether you receive a W-2G, all gambling winnings are reportable on your federal Form 1040. . Nonresidents report Oklahoma-sourced winnings on Form 511NR.
Please see this TurboTax tips article for more information on reporting gambling winnings.
