I am mailing Form 8949 with Form 8453 with details of capital gain/loss that I summarized on my federal return. Because of the summary, TurboTax automatically includes the words "see attached statement".
I do not need to mail anything similar to the state of CA I believe. But because TurboTax copies entries over from the federal to the state return, my state entry also says "see attached statement." How do I edit and remove these words?
Or is it not necessary? Thank you.

The great State of CA will appreciate that the annotation applies to your Federal tax return.

Yay! Thanks fanfare.
CA is great, right? Especially the capital gains tax rate 😓
What about for the federal return? I am permitted to summarize transactions without submitting a statement. So "statement attached" would be an incorrect description (I just want it to read "Vanguard - Nominee", as an example). I have not found a way to get rid of the "statement attached". Any suggestions?
Also, could someone please advise me how to ask a question, without replying to someone's previous question?
Thank you.
your category Box A or Box D sales without adjustments do not require Form 8949,
That summary goes on Schedule D Line 1a and Line 8a.
If you summarize on Form 8949, then it is required to attach a statement of details. therefore, "See attached" is appropriate.
To avoid summarizing, enter each 1099-B one at a time.
---------
Beyond the reporting exception noted above,
IRS requires details of your SELL transactions to be supplied on some Form 8949,
or on your other forms (e.g. consolidated 1099-B or spreadsheet) which have the same information and in the same manner as Form 8949.
Either way, if you choose to summarize only, you have to mail the transaction details to the IRS within three business days of IRS accepting your e-Filed tax return. (unless you have attached a PDF of the transactions details to your e-Filed return. TurboTax Online will ask for it).

The blue "Ask a question" button is hiding in the new blue background up top.
The Form 8949 instructions state, "If you choose to report these transactions directly on Schedule D, you don't need to include them on Form 8949 and don't need to attach a statement."
The Schedule D instructions state, "If you choose to report these transactions on line 1a and 8a, don't report them on form 8949. You don't need to attach a statement...........and, if you e-file your return, you don't need to file Form 8453."
Perhaps I didn't properly ask my original question. I will recheck that, and my input.
I'm sure my post above was clear and accurate.
