I am e-filing my state return and I am eligible for the Wisconsin Homestead Credit. After completing the section of questions I am prompted to upload PDFs of all the required documents, but it is unclear which documents are required. After talking to my state revenue department I'm told that a Schedule H (or H-EZ) form is needed along with the rent certificate from my landlord.
My question is, is TurboTax generating a Schedule H (H-EZ) form for me during the e-filing process? Or is that one of the PDFs that I need to fill out on my own and attach to my e-filing?
Thanks!

The program is showing that it handles the rent credit. Here are the supported forms for WI, the bottom one. If you upload your rent certificate, sch H will be generated and passed along. It is not in the Free version according to this article.
How do I add my homestead credit, if I already filed my state return? Is schedule H the homestead credit?
If you have already filed your state tax return, you will not be able to use TurboTax to file for the homestead credit. You can either print and mail your form or you may be able to send it electronically through the Wisconsin Department of Revenue website. Please see the two links below for more information:
Wisconsin Claiming the Homestead Credit - Information
Either Schedule H-EZ or Schedule H are used to file the Wisconsin Homestead Credit. Please see the information link above to determine which form to use for your situation.
I am using the free version and it is asking for a PDF document. I am a homeowner and not a renter. What document am I to upload?
You need to submit a copy of your 2020 property tax bill with Schedule H.
I have same problem and question in Home and Business. I have always printed and sent these forms in seperately before. Now trying to attach the pdf files to save me that trouble. Does the program include the w-ra form automatically, and also I have my main home tax statement - plus an adjoining property (land only) tax statement- do I need to attach both tax statements or just the one with the main residence on it? Thanks in advance!
Yes, the program has the W-RA, Required Attachments for Electronic Filing form.
The credit is based on property tax paid. The Homestead Instructions state: Your homestead is the Wisconsin home you occupy, whether you own it or rent it, and up to one acre of land adjoining it (or up to 120 acres of land if the homestead is part of a farm). For example, it may be a house, an apartment, a rented room, a mobile or manufactured home, a farm, or a nursing home room.
@tbar If your adjoining lot is one acre or less, unless farm as above, then you would include the lot with your home to calculate the tax paid. If one acre or less, attach both your home and the adjoining land tax paid.
Hello, After answering the Homestead questions it say "Looks like you need to attach pdf files". On the next page it says to upload the Homestead Form, along with all required documents. There is no form shown to edit, and it only allows 1 upload. I need to upload 2 different tax statements as the homestead in on one property, while our other property is adjoining on the corner tips. There is no "edit" pencil shown, and no way that I can see to upload anymore than just 1 pdf file. In the forms, the Schedule H is there, but I cannot get anywhere where it tells me what the program needs, nor upload more than 1 pdf file. I have both tax statements on an SD card which is in the laptop already. Please Help asap! Thank You!
@tbar Put the forms together into one pdf to upload.
You can copy and paste them together into one document.
I ended up adding the 2 documents, one at a time, and they both showed in the one straight line where it said add your pdf files. I was confused at first, as I was only looking at the ending of the file name in the line, not reading that it included both files. Example "C"/desktop/ files/ pdffile1pdffile2. After doing this the next page said that the files were added to the tax file. I e-filed last night, and am hoping the files were attached, as niether the tax file I printed afterward or the pdf file of the tax return show either of the attached files (which were copies of land taxes for the Homestead credit). There were also no directions stating that the Homestead form and tax statements needed to be mailed in within 3 days, which was usually the case in the past years when I didn't add them as pdf's to the return. Hope all goes well, as I don't know how nor did I see how to check or see the documents that are attached to the return. FYI - I use the cd version of the Home & Business.
Hi, Turbo tax no longer brings up the section to add documents for my homestead credit. I have not filed for state yet. Is there any other way to upload these documents in turbotax?
Please see this answer by @KathrynG at How do I access PDF files needed to file a WISCONSIN Homestead Credit, and upload them...
