NJ E Filing Error Message

My sons federal return was accepted the next day, but his is a very simple return - not sure if that makes a difference or not .

mune was rejected 2 times for duplicate w-2 - although I could not find anything duplicated . I called the help number and they told me to delete our w-2s (I file married  joint ) and return enter them.

so now I'm waiting again to see if federal is accepted

I spoke to TT and was able to efile my NJ return.

Steps:

Open your tax return, go to file and select Remove State Return. (If it is not highlighted, try closing TT and reopen and repeat).

Once you have successfully, removed the state return, you can do NJ tax return. It will fix all the errors.

Good Luck.

I feel for you. Hang in there.

I was able to file my NJ taxes electronically, just couldn't download the forms. There was a massage that said the forms were not ready to download yet and I clicked a box that said they would E-mail me when they were ready to be downloaded.

Downloaded the last update yesterday.  Filed early this afternoon.  FED accepted the return within an hour.  TT estimates NJ acceptance by February 21, 2022.

NJ E Filing Error Message

I have having this same issue everyone else is having in this thread. I've used TurboTax for the last many years I've been trading and this has NEVER come up once and I've definitely had more than 100 trades each year. I am trying to just enter the 1099b from E-Trade manually. Can someone please explain how I would put in the wash sale info? The difference between the Cost Basis and Proceeds does not include the wash sale amount. The column says "Wash Sale Loss Disallowed" on the E-Trade form. I can't seem to figure out how to input the wash sale amount?

NJ E Filing Error Message

@Frank51281  You have to check the box turbo tax gives you. It’s something like adjust my cost basis. Then put the code “W” on the drop down list You have to look. I think it’s “w” it will tell you thou. Oh to update everyone else my state was accepted so just waiting for refund now.

@Gmen4life Thanks for the info. I do see that now, but to make matters more confusing, on my E-Trade form under the "Unknown Term" section, I have ONE stupid trade listed as "Basis not reported to the IRS" and I had already did an adjustment for that so I missed the wash sale box being there. No idea why this is when the trade is clearly in my transaction history on E-Trade. It knows the proceeds but not the cost basis. I guess I just need to add both in and check off the box "B (Cost basis incorrect on form)" box as well. What a nuisance this has been.

@Frank51281  Yeah that’s what I would do. Other then that sounds like you got everything covered. I know importing sounds a lot easier and it is when you do it for the FED, but since states are funky, I always just do it the way I described in my posts above. Least now both fed and state accepted them. I’d imagine yours will be too. Good luck!
