If I set up New York State scheduled estimated payments through TurboTax, but then subsequently decide I want to modify or cancel the scheduled payments, how do I go about doing that? Will those scheduled payments be able to be modified on the NYS Tax website?

Yes, you can make payments in any amount.
There is no penalty for not making the payments or for making payments of a lesser amount. You would only get a penalty if, at the end of the year, it is determined that your tax was underpaid based on your income, (not on your estimates) .
Thanks for the reply, but I wasn't asking if I could make payments. I wanted to know how I could modify the scheduled payments after using TurboTax to submit my taxes... ???
After you have submitted your tax return through TurboTax, any changes to the scheduled payments would need to be made directly through the New York Department of Taxation and Finance.
Here is the website to get started: Make an estimated income tax payment
So that means if I schedule a NYS payment through TurboTax, that payment will be visible if I log onto my NYS tax account on their website, and I will be able to modify the entry?
The estimated payments the program sets up are for your convenience and are part of your NY return.
You will want to amend your estimates according to Instructions for Form IT-2105 - Tax.NY.gov.

@AmyC Are you sure?
I thought the NY 4-QTR estimated set up was different from virtually all other states...and setting up those actual estimated D.Debit payments CAN be done and electronically scheduled within the TTX software.....as long as the NY e-filing is accepted. No other states do this as a part of the tax filing (ehhh.....maybe CA)....the other states just print out forms for you to send in separately with a check.

@maglib @rjs Yeah? No ,I'm mistaken?
Ahhhh, here's a prior year NY Electronic setup in the TTX software for scheduling NY Estimated payments as a part of the NY tax filing. I just don't know if the TTX NY software still does this (Note: these are screenshots for paying in 2017 in the 2016 software)

There is an easy article about setting NYS tax payments through TT.
I learned though that when there is a delay in acceptance of you NYS tax return, that can delay your estimated payments so I normally schedule them directly through NYS myself for peace of mind.
