Did she live in Ok and work in TX or when she moved to OK she started working in OK.
If she only earned income in TX while living in TX, then she would not have to pay taxes on the income from TX.
If she worked in TX after she moved to OK, then the income she earned from TX while a resident of OK would be taxable to the state of OK.
She lived in Texas and worked in Texas and then moved to Oklahoma and worked in Oklahoma. I used Turbo tax to do her Federal Return and then it automatically moved everything over to do her State Taxes. It looks like Oklahoma is taxing her on all her income and not just what she made in Oklahoma. Is there an adjustment that I need to make? Thank you so much for all your help.
Yes. If you indicated in the program that she lived and worked in two different states, there will be a section in the Oklahoma return where you allocate income and expenses to Oklahoma. One column will show Federal Income and another column will have boxes where you put the amount of Oklahoma income.
Thank you.
