I moved from Virginia to California in June 2023. I am now a CA resident. I am working for the same employer. I was granted RSUs while working in Virginia and received a 2024 W2 withholding VA state taxes on the RSUs. I downloaded TT for VA and completed it first, but when I started to work on CA taxes, the screen says CA residents cannot claim credit for taxes paid to VA. Is this right? and if it’s not right - how do I correct my entry to get CA credit for VA taxes paid? or am I being double taxed?

California and Virginia are reverse credit states, so the credit for the taxes paid is opposite of "normal'. You will have to complete the California return, then go back to Virginia to add the credit for the taxes paid to California.

Thanks! That fixed my problem.
