I received a letter from the Missouri DoR stating that, due to a review of Section 143.161.2 RSMo, and the fact that I filed as Head of Household from 2018-2021, I will be receiving a refund that will also be retroactively applied for the previous 4 years.
The letter seems to say, and I am assuming, that if I file for tax year 2022, I will receive the refund for the previous years (2018-2021) as an additional credit on my 2022 refund.
Am I reading this right? Will the amount that I should be retroactively refunded be added to my 2022 state refund with no additional action on my part? Or do I need to state this amount somewhere on my 2022 state taxes, and/or amend those years in order to receive the amount on the letter? Or is the extra credit handled by TurboTax, noted on my 2022 tax forms, and I am just that tax-dumb (this year's estimated state refund is higher by close to the amount stated on the letter, so me just being tax-dumb might just be the case)?
FYI - I have already placed the $1,400 deduction on Line 15 of Form MO-1040.
Edit: I changed the year from 2017 to 2018, because the Tax Years being retroactively refunded are 2018-2021, not 2017-2021 as I originally wrote.

You are reading the letter right. You will automatically get the credit on your 2022 Missouri tax return. You do not enter anything about it on your 2022 tax return. The Department of Revenue will apply the credit automatically. You do not amend your tax returns for the earlier years. Since you do not put anything about the credit on your tax return, TurboTax does not do anything. The credit is handled by the Department of Revenue, not by TurboTax.
