I active duty, stationed in North Carolina. My home state of residence is Florida. I had no other income except W-2 and some capital gain from stock sales. W-2 shows all income as State of NC and State tax withheld.
Turbotax doesn't give me option to file a State NC return! (I am filing as M/F/S)
HELP!

If your Home of Record is in Florida, and your W2 is from the military, then you would not need to file a NC return and since you are in FL, you would not need to file any state return.
If your W2 is from a side job, then you would just click on the state tab and click add a state, then select NC. You can also do this in the personal info section by answering yes, to did you earn income in any other state. You will file a NC non-resident return to report only the income you earned outside of the military in NC. Your capital gains from sale of stock would not be taxable income in NC. If FL had state income tax, it would be taxable to FL, but since it does not, your stock sales are not taxable by a state.
If you are filing to claim a refund of taxes withheld to the state by the military, you will need to click add a state, select NC as the state, then as you walk through you will be asked to adjust your income. You will just zero out all of the military income but leave the taxes withheld.
