MA form SC seems to have a bug filling in credit available and credit used this year for septic systems installed 2020-2022. For systems installed in those years MA allows a $4500 total credit but only allows it to be taken at the rate of $1500 per year.
Turbo tax creates a form SC that shows $3000 available and then wrongly the total $3000 taken this year.
I can get the correct credit value to show on FORM 1 by inputting only $1500 total credit available but that
then means I have nothing remaining for next year. (Not the correct $3000-$1500 this year leaving $1500 remaining for next year)
I also tried manually changing the septic worksheet and that also gives a correct Form 1 but leaves form SC incorrect showing $3000 available and wrongly $3000 taken this year. Form SC is important because it seems that it is used by MA to keep track of septic credits available and the resulting credits remaining for following years. Turbo tax does not allow a manual correction on form SC.
Interestingly it worked fine last year. But when Turbo tax added the different calculation used for septic installed in 2024 and they broke the calculation for the 2020-2023 years.
How can I get FORM 1, the worksheet, and Form SC all correct and consistent? The workarounds are not getting me there.
