I received a letter from LA Dept of Revenue stating "Records indicate that you claimed a credit or exemption on your return that needs to be verified and/or your return contained errors when it was submitted." They hope to complete their review within 90 days. I don't see any errors on the return, however, we did not make estimated tax payments for 2021 and we owed more than $2000 for the year. Turbo Tax completed Form R-210R which is supposed to calculate the penalty if an exception is not met. I suspect the TT completion of the form is not correct, but I can't tell without trying to navigate the LA online instructions for the form. Has anyone had experience with this form? I don't like waiting 90 days to find out that a 12% penalty is due. Knowing LA they will probably add on interest to the penalty.

Could it be due to this?
you claimed a credit or exemption on your return that needs to be verified
Thanks for your response. I didn't claim any credits and the only exemptions were for my husband and myself. The R-210R is the only new form that Turbo Tax added. We had never had to complete one before. I tried to call the Dept of Rev on Friday but couldn't get through. I'll try again tomorrow.
