Live in SC work in GA

I live in SC work in GA. I have filled out the TT GA state first, says full refund. And SC state second says I owe $0 Shouldn't I be paying something to SC? GA is giving back full amount. Seems like something is wrong?

Your numbers don't sound correct. A South Carolina resident working in Georgia is taxed on all income earned in GA, so there should be some tax due.

All the income is also taxed by South Carolina, since you live there. But SC will give you a tax credit on the GA income. It's possible SC will be $0 if you only have the one job and no other income.

  1. Check your W-2. Is the state code GA in Box 15?
  2. Next check Georgia Income and Adjustments in the Georgia section.
  3. On Georgia Part-Year and Nonresidents, all the Wages and Salaries should be in the Georgia box, not Other State.
  4. South Carolina should compute correctly because you completed GA first.

Just to clarify. If I work in Ga non resident earnings should be kept in the GA box not the other box.

When I do the SC tax shouldn't they be getting the tax since I live in SC?  It still says $0

It depends.  Depending on your income, while your income is taxable in both states, there might not be any tax because of low income and/or tax credits.  Or, as mentioned above, you could have entered something incorrectly.
