Live in NJ and work in VA
Hi,
My employer is based in VA, I work in VA but I live in NJ. I have a few questions regarding my W-4 and tax return:
1. How is my tax withholding situation (W-4) ? Will my tax withholding in both states VA and NJ or just my residency state NJ?
2. Am I qualify for NJ Residence Tax Credit when filing tax return so I don't get double taxed?
Thank you.

@sudoyum you will owe VA taxes as a non-resident, since you work there. Then you will owe NJ taxes as a resident.
However, NJ will give you a credit up to the NJ tax rate for the taxes paid to VA, so that you are not taxed twice on the same dollar.
When doing your tax return next year, critical to make sure the VA return is completed BEFORE completing the NJ return. That will make sure the credit appears correctly on the NJ return,

Your Virginia employer will withhold only Virginia tax, not New Jersey tax.

You physically commute from NJ to VA? Or do you telecommute from your home in NJ for a company that's based in VA?
