It says Line 1b is greater than the amount on my IT-203 but they match

The numbers in Line 1a and Line 1b are the same. Not sure what the issue is or how to fix it.

Is the New York State amount on line 1 of the IT-203 less than the federal amount?  If it is, don't allocate more than that amount to NY City.  (The screenshot here is showing the federal amount on the left, not NY State amount.)

@EdithM is correct that the federal income may be more than is shown for the NY income. So if federal is $123 and NY is $85, then 1b should not exceed $85, which is not shown on this screen.

1. Log into your return
2. select Federal
3. on the left side go to Tax Tools
4. click on Tools
5. Pop up box, click on View Tax Summary
6. left side, click  Preview my "State"
7. View your NY income
