I am living out of the country, but there isn't an option to put this under personal info... what to do?

In the My Info section for your personal information where asked for your resident state you need to scroll to the bottom of the dropdown and select Foreign or US Possession, if you are not a resident of one of the 50 states.

thank you. so if I was living in another country all of last year, but still have WA residency, should I put WA? even though I wasn't physically living there in dec 2017?

I am not active military. i work freelance for a US company - thus a 1099misc form. I may return to the states but this isn't confirmed. Here for awhile longer, at least one year...

Then you would be a resident of a foreign country for tax purposes.

if i filled out a w2 last year but this year have 1099, should i answer 'yes' or 'no' to this question: Here's the income you reported in last year's return (excluding Social Security, which doesn't automatically transfer).
Did these still apply in 2017?

You would answer no since your employment changed since last year.

i didn't start up a business or elect that i did so.. I"m just filing for a 1099 / self-employment.. what should I do?
