Hello,
Thanks for your help. I am finalizing my Ca State return and noticed a carryover credit from last year was not correctly applied to 2024 return. It turns out the incorrect amount was transferred over? I looked back at my 2023 return( Form 3804-CR) and there was a difference of about $500 off that was transferred to this year. I thought TURBO TAX will correctly transfer over important information like credits and refunds to apply to current estimated tax. For this reason, I hesitate to have any refunds applied to current year payment bc I would have to make a reminder the amount or to rely on Turbo Tax to correctly transfer the information. Has anyone experience this? I changed the auto populated carryover amount to the correct one based on last year's Form 3804-CR . Is that okay to do? Thanks for your insight.

Yes. As long as the amount you changed matches the prior year Form 3804-CR , line 5, as filed in 2023, then your 2024 return will reflect the correct amount.
