If I moved to Oregon from California, and transferred my position with the same company, should I have multiple W-2s?

I don't see any Oregon information on the W-2 I have from this company.

If I moved to Oregon from California, and transferred my position with the same company, should I have multiple W-2s?

It depends.  One factor is if you have transferred jobs and now work in Oregon.  If this is the case and you are not seeing Oregon information, you would want to speak to them about getting a corrected w-2 that shows how much income was earned in California and how much was earned in Oregon.  Then you will fill out part-year returns for each state, and the income will be apportioned as such.

 

If, however, you only moved to Oregon but your job is still in California, you still want to have a corrected w-2 to show the Oregon percentage of income, but the treatment is a little different.  You will still file part-year returns for each state, but California still taxes you for all of the income you earned in California.  However, you will claim a credit for California taxes on the “Oregon” portion of your income, and this will greatly reduce if not eliminate the Oregon tax.  Make sure your company is aware of your new address so that they can correctly withhold your taxes going forward.
