Look at the PDF copy of your 2021 return, for the Filing Instructions page for your state return. It will state how you elected to pay your Balance Due to New Jersey.
If it says you paid by direct bank withdrawal, then definitely you should contact the New Jersey Dept. of Revenue as to why the debit has not been processed.
I do not see that page anywhere in my PDF Tax Return. I see a page called 2023 NJ-1040-ES-V PAYMENT VOUCHER.
On this page it has another payable amount, and tells me how to pay echeck, check, etc.
Very confusing. I thought the whole point of turbotax was they would take care of this?
Are you asking about 2021 or 2022?
If you are asking about 2021, then call the New Jersey Division of Taxation about your 2021 payment.
See Contact Us.
If you are asking about 2022, check your return for a payment voucher for the current tax year – Form NJ-1040-V.
See How do I print a copy of my tax return in TurboTax?
Did you ask TurboTax to have the amount owed deducted from a checking or savings account? If you did, you’d also have to choose a date to pay. You can schedule a payment as late as April 18.
The TurboTax cover sheet in front of your New Jersey return will show the date of your withdrawal.
As I’ve said before, I’ve never owed tax money. I have no idea which option I selected but I’m pretty sure it was auto withdrawal. I don’t have checks so I’m not submitting a check.
I am talking about 2022, not 2021. My apologies.
I see the payment voucher sheet and it has 3 options. I don’t want to pay NJ state and then they decide to withdraw it out of my account as well.
None of this is intuitive (as the name suggests) and is just a real pain. Think it’s time to go back to my Tax guy, worth it to not worry about this.
Following up....the cover sheet on my NJ Tax Return does show it will be taken out on 4/18/2023, so I guess I just haven't waited long enough.
Thank you for helping everyone! Quick responses as well.
