Got it! This is super helpful. Thank you! 2 follow up question for you!
1) Does SpringTax send my forms to the IRS or the CRA?
2) Do I only file my US taxes on SpringTax and separate filing to the CRA?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Sprinttax.com is for U.S. tax returns only, but you can e-file through them.
You can probably use TurboTax Canada to prepare and file with the Canada Revenue Agency. They have live help just like U.S. TurboTax. I've only done a few Canadian returns so I am not too familiar with Canadian returns but I think you can use TurboTax Canada since I assume you are a Canadian citizen or resident.
Or, if 2020 is the first year you entered the US, you would need to file as dual status by making the "First Year Choice". Click here: First Year Choice
If you meet the requirement, you will file as a nonresident on Form 1040-NR January-July and a resident on Form 1040 August-December. For details how to file, click here: Dual Status
