I live in Virginia and the state tax question is asking me about Long Term Care premium not taken as a deduction on my federal return. Since I ended up using the standard deduction on my federal return, can I add those premiums to my Virginia return since they weren't used on my federal return.
Yes, you may take the Virginia deduction for long-term care health care insurance premiums only if you did not take a deduction on your federal return. Enter the amount of the premiums that you paid during 2022 for your long-term health care insurance premiums when prompted by TurboTax.
Fore more information, please refer to the Virginia Tax website for Deductions.
