I lived in IL for 4 months before I moved to KY. Reported change to employer. When I got my w-2's the following year I saw where the employer never updated I had moved to KY to stop taking out IL state taxes. I submitted a ticket to HR and I eventually got a corrected W-2, but they had failed to put in all of the information on the IL state w-2 so it looks like nothing was deducted from IL for taxes. With KY they corrected it and my federal. I made another ticket with HR. A few months later I left the company for a better paying job and the ticket just never got resolved. I've tried more tickets but those aren't getting resolved or answered either. This had no caused a year to pass with no resolution. How can I get my old employer to fix the error?

Your W2 should report the amount of taxes withheld and which state they were paid to.
That can't really be changed or corrected afterwards.
The only option is to file state tax returns and receive a refund of overpaid tax.
Check your paystubs to get an idea of what tax was paid and which state your taxes went to.
Illinois and Kentucky have a reciprocal agreement concerning state tax.
IL state had an issue bc the employer left the withheld part on the w-2 as 0 showing I should pay them, when that wasn't the fact bc for a few months taxes for IL did come out. If I am understanding right use the last paystub where IL taxes was taken out to fill out what was withheld?
To clarify
Did your former employer move the amount of Illinois tax to show as paid to Kentucky or did the amount of Illinois tax you paid "just disappear"?
