From early November 2021 through December 31, 2021, the Maine Revenue Services issued Disaster Relief Payments to eligible Maine citizens in the amount of $285. Maine is not taxing these payments, however, they are subject to federal income tax.
On the Maine state form, there is a place to certify receiving the payment. However, there does not appear to be anywhere to declare the payment on the federal form.
Will the state of Maine be sending out some kind of 1099 for these payments? Is there another way to declare this income on the federal form?
