How long does it take to process my NJ state tax payment

my return was accepted 8 days ago and my tax owed paid has not been processed

New Jersey generally processes electronic payments quickly, usually within a few business days.

Did you ask to direct debit your NJ tax owed? If so, what date did you choose? You may have selected a future date.

If you selected to have your account debited around the date you filed your state return, and your payment has not posted, you can check the status on the New Jersey Division of Taxation website. Click Individual Income Tax Payment and Filing.

If you sent a payment by mail, it will probably take weeks for it to be posted.

Unless you indicated a specific payment date, it defaults to April 15.
