Hi Phil,
This occurs for the rejection on the federal and state returns because you can file the federal without a state return, but you cannot file the state return without the federal being attached.
Unfortunately, TurboTax does not have a standalone state tax preparation product. The TurboTax State program is designed to transfer information from your federal return. If you have already filed your federal return outside of TurboTax and just need to do your state, you can do so.
You can also elect to transmit your federal now, or wait until the forms are available on February 9 to transmit both.
Follow the Forms Availability link to determine when your forms are available to e-file.
Unfortunately, regardless of the preparer or software you choose to use to file your taxes, the state form availability dates will remain the same for e-filing purposes.
What form, on that list, are we waiting for?
I do not see any form that seems relevant to the MCTR that would warrant waiting until the 9th to file. Especially when others have filed successfully already with their MCTR’s. This seems like a TT isolated issue.
I agree seems like a turbo tax issue. They keep moving the date back. I spoke to a TT rep on the phone and she said it was due to software not being updated.
This is an Intuit problem, they never fully tested their system.
At first their system would not allow to process a 1099-misc with a w2 on the free version, they would make you switch to a paid version in order to process the 1099-misc and then you were stuck in some odd loop due to not having all the fields filled in... Once they gave the user the 1099-misc with CA MCTR , that too had issues and the user was stuck in a loop because their system could not full process the new CA MCTR.
Now even if you just file the Fed part it will still fails... Their system seems to need both CA and FED to go through at the same time so it does not want to work unless you process both.
I saw that as well. Non taxable for federal and state yet still can’t get a successful e-file. Keeps getting rejected and TT is being pretty quiet on this very important matter that’s causing paying filers to not be able to file. I won’t be using them next year.
I am also thinking of the same thing I believe if they can’t fix this issue by Monday, I’ll be doing my own taxes with H&R Block online or tax act. Neither of them seem to be having this issue with their software.
God knows where in the California refund queue our stuck returns would end up. Funny how the excuses and wrong information on state tax forms availability get circulated which have absolutely nothing to do with this error that TT needs to fix.
How do you check to see if your software has been updated? How does it work if your using the online aite on your mobile phone? Thanks in advance
Its a TT issue not forms issue. I know two coworkers who have already e-filed on different platforms. TT customer service also told me when i spoke to them it was a software issue. Im goint to wait a few weeks then file on a different platform and dispute the charges with my credit card company.
Mine has now been accepted, both federal and State in Ca.
Did u have to go back and change anything on the 1099?
After 3 rejections I tried again this morning and they were both accepted !! I will update if anything changes
MDT45 after the first rejection I worded the Ca MCTR part to what they said but other than that I did not change anything.
