How do I input the amount of wages earned in each state when I moved mid-year? Changing the dates of residency in "My Info" has no effect on the return amount.

More specifically, I moved from CA (9 months) -> FL (3 months). Based on my conversations with a tax professional, they said that I should pay CA state tax for the wages earned during those 9 months.

I can't find anywhere in TurboTax to actually input this information. Changing the dates in the "My Info" section doesn't actually change any of the refund numbers. And this article (https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/income/help/how-do-i-allocate-split-income-for-a-part-year-state-r...) doesn't actually say how to do it in TurboTax.
Thanks 🙂

Yes, CA taxes income earned in CA. FL has no state tax. Follow these steps:

  1. In the personal section, you chose part year resident.
  2. When you go to CA, you choose part year.
  3. You enter the number of days you  were in CA in 2020.
  4. Continue,  pass income adjustments, continue
  5. When the screen shows wages earned on the federal and asks for the CA amount, you enter the CA amount.
  6. Continue separating your income, inputting the CA amounts only.
  7. It will be screen after screen until you have divided up all your incomes.
