How do I get the program to deal with a MA return?

We have MA state pensions, but the program doesn't understand they are non taxable in MA?

You should go to the section of TurboTax where you first entered the 1099-R in the income section.

In the State Information, Box 14-16, do not enter anything in this area, since your pension as a retired teacher is not taxable in Massachusetts.
