Is this to see if your state refund is taxable on your federal return? Did you itemize deductions last year on federal? If you took the Standard Deduction then the state refund is not taxable and you don't even need to enter it.
If this is in regard to your state refund, if you took the Standard Deduction on your 2023 federal return, you needn't report the state refund, it is not taxable.
If you did Itemize deductions, it would be all the state tax that was paid or withheld on your 2023 income statements, such as W-2 and 1099-R.
(You could also look at your 2023 Schedule A to see what you reported as state tax paid on line 5e)
Thank you SO much, this is exactly what I needed! I did the standard deduction 🙂
Appreciate your help!!

We filed Married Filing Jointly and itemized. How do I find my portion of the state refund?
If you itemized it would be listed on the Schedule A line 5e. If you want to know yours portion you can review your W-2s to know how much was your withholdings.
