How can i enter my new jersey tax paid on my new york state return when i can't see the total new jersey tax until i file the return?

we moved from nyc to new jersey on aug 25, 2019, so this is my first time filing two state returns. my wife works in nyc and i worked in nyc until around november when my firm did some paperwork to officially transfer me to our new jersey office. i have this nagging feeling that i'm getting double taxed. one way to seemingly avoid that is to enter the amount of tax i'm paying to NJ in my NY return, but alas, i can't tell what my final tax due is on NJ until i'm ready to file the return and can look at the tax form. is there another way to tell what my total nj tax due is? (and i suppose i'll also need to know what my NY total tax due is as well to enter on my NJ form). not sure how to do this.......

You will file a part year resident NY return IT-203. You will not take a credit on this return for taxes paid to NJ. You will also file a part year resident NJ return. Do NY first. The credit amount for taxes paid on income taxed by both states will go on NJ. You will have to allocate amounts earned in NY as a NY resident.
