I took out from my 401K in 2020 with the covid withdrawl. I opted to split my tax payments over 3 years with the federal taxes but for Hawaii taxes, it would not let me do a three year and I had to pay taxes on the whole payment for 2020.
Last year I got a refund from the state of Hawaii.
This year, it shows that I owe in taxes to the state of Hawaii. When I started my taxes in February, turbo tax showed I was owed a refund from the state of Hawaii. When I went to finalize my taxes and to print to mail my forms in, it now shows that I owe payment (which is significant - about an $1800 difference). It seems that it added a third of my covid related withdrawal that I did back in 2020. Which I already claimed and paid taxes for back in 2020. My Hawaii state AGI on turbo tax shows it much higher than what I actually made on my W-2.
I tried to see if there was anyone I could call regarding this issue.
Is there going to be an update to fix this issue? Or am I out of luck and have to pay the $1800?
